Re: [ATM] Box Beam Mirror Blank
First off, you don't want to do any gluing the mirror together.
You need to fuse the mirror together instead. There are several
techniques that have been used, pins, triangluar arrays of
spacers, radial spacers as well as rectangular spacings for
holding the two plates apart. Finally, professionally there is
the Hextek mirrors that Bob Goff did. These were done with tubes
that were expanded between the two plates and fused to the
plates. The Hextek mirrors were extremely light with a 32"
mirror being able to be carried by one person. The biggest
problem iwth such light mirrors is being able to handle them
without breaking them - something that weighs 50lb. and is 30
some inches in diameter is a bit difficult to handle by yourself.
