[ATM] A Kiln in a Bell Jar
A kiln in a bell jar sounds like a great idea.
Does anyone out there know off hand how the heat loss from a kiln
element is distributed, convection/conduction/radiation?
You might need a helium atmosphere rather than a vacuum to keep the
elements cool and the kiln hot.
Hot gas at the vacuum pump shouldn't be a concern. Regardless of the
temperature there would be little heat and a cold trap would be
desirable in any case.
