[ATM] Mels Drives

Hi All,

I am using Mel's "kit" to drive my 24" equatorial I am building.

The only problem was getting the reduction gearboxes. (30:1)

It is very scarce commodity here in South Africa.

On my site under telescope making, are some images.

|The telescope will be installed this week.

 

You will understand with the size of the scope, I had doubts

about the capabilities of the small motors.

 

A bit of tweaking and the scope works like a dream!!!!!!

 

The only mod I can suggest to increase speed and "torque" is

to put a small flywheel on the steppers. Makes a world of a dif.

Through shafts, are unfortunately not available here, second hand. :-(
