Now you know why it was in the dumpster!!

Do you normally have problems with binocs and binoviewers? I do, my eyes oftentimes refuse to line up. Some times I can get it, sometimes I can't (beer, or lack thereof, seems to have no effect).

If you don't, then probably all you need is to align the prisms better. I think entire books have been written on how to do this. But you can probably tinker with it and figure out how to get it, after you saw off the first prism. I'd try the view thru both sides, and see if there's a difference (use the same eye and eyepiece on both sides). One side might show a bit out of collimation, or a soft image. Leave the good side alone, then re-aim the other prism to match. Might work.

Maybe you could try shining a laser pointer thru the assembly. After it splits the beam, see if they are parallel. If not, try to see if one or both can be collimated.

Good luck,

John
