Re: [ATM] Pits,,, A Tip!
Here's another one,
It only works with mirror on bottom and if the pits are NOT coming from
tile edges fracturing. When you add more grit, spread it around with you
fingers (be sure they're clean, of course). If there's a piece even
slightly bigger than the rest, you'll feel it. Even when polishing, it's
truly amazing how sensitive your fingers are at the micron level. I never
actually tested this on purpose by adding a grain or two of 5-micron, but
I've certainly rinsed off plenty of polishing compound when I felt something
not quite right.

Subject: [ATM] Pits,,, A Tip!
| Hi All,
|
| Here's a Technique, some begginners fail to see
| as a lifesaver, but it is! ;
|
| When you begin to recharge the tool,[or disk thats on bottom],
| [assumming the disks are sepperated!], First-off, make sure you have a
| good "sudsey" action going on the surface,,Make-sure you see bubbles!,
| if-not, ad more dishsoap[3-4 drops] to the "charge-bottle", mix-well.
| SLOWLY-place the top-disk onto the bottom one, DO-NOT let the
| top disk settle yet, with all its weight!!,,,,,SLOWLY lower the disk
| down, while at the same time doing a circle-motion of about 1/8th inch,
| While doing this circle motion "with your fingers holding-up" the
| sides of the disk, slowly lower the disk-down all the way.,,
| Make your first couple of strokes 1/4 strokes!! Slow!, and no pressure,
| except the fingers on side of disk,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, after this procedure,
| Grind as normal.
| This simple technique will save you LOTS! of pit chassing.
|
| Good Luck!
|
| John Moore.
