Turning the slitless tester into a slit tester doesn't really affect
anything except the brightness of the unocculted mirror return.  I do it
myself a bit just so the return from the mirror under test isn't too bright
in the camera's image.  I leave the slit about -020" or so (never measured
it) so that I can also do Ronchi tests just by placing a grating in front of
the KE and aligning it with the direction of the KE.  This sharpens up the
lines of the Ronchi test a bit and darkens it to where the camera can handle
the light as well.
