Around here (in the southern boonies) we use 55 gal. drums as trash
barrels. Those plastic things with wheels are too citified for our tastes.
We have considerable steel drum expertise.
The underlying formed steel doesn't vary much from one drum to another but
the finish applied to the steel changes depending on the original contents
of the drum. What you want to look for are drums made for the food
industry. They have waterproof plastic interior coatings. I had a drum
labeled "banana puree" that lasted ten years as a trash barrel.
