Its main disadvantage appears to be that it doesn't change hardness
over time. If your pitch hardness needs or the temperature in your
work area changes, you may be stuck with the wrong hardness. If you
order the wrong hardness, you can't change it.
For me, Gugolz, a hot plate and linseed oil will give me any hardness
I desire, from the same pitch. I believe Gugolz is also a bit cheaper.<<

Im convinced,, I'll stick with tradition,,its Gugolz or death!! JM.

>>A well-baffled 12.5" F/6 is a formidable scope, and by that I mean a
scope of that size with a good mirror produces images that are
difficult to beat. You have a reasonable size scope that needs only a
stepstool when pointed at the zenith, a good amount of light
gathering, and not too much coma.
I refigured a 12.5" F/6 (formerly) Cave mirror for a local club (it
was rough and the figure was not great). It's in a closed tube, so
stray light is not a problem. People seem to have a hard time leaving
the eyepiece, which I take as a compliment!

Yea, I agree, the 12.5" is a hard scope to pass-up for size

,cost,conveinience,and light-gathring. In fact I would have

been quite content with a 10incher, I had at one time, until

I bought a 6"RV6 Dynascope at a good price one time,,,,

and boy!! did it put my 10" to shame in the contrast dept.

thats when I started ATMing,,,.wish now I hadnt sold that

dynascope, it was a good one,,made in the early 70's, the

10" was a coulter btw,,the Meade 8"cat I bought later

even put my coulter to shame,, it was that bad!

Good job on the cave-scope Mike, yea I bet its a good

felling when people look thru it and realize it's top-quality!,

and hand-made, makes all that work worth-it!!

Take-care Mike!

John Moore.
