That's correct. Take a wavefront, invert it, and you get the same image 
structure at the diffraction focus and the same MTF. This must be a 
corollary to the global phase ambiguity that interferometrists are familiar 
with.

Since people are complaining about quoting styles, I'll offer a quick 
comment. I don't use Outlook or Outlook Express, but it appears in Outlook 
you can change the quoting style by clicking on Tools/Options..., clicking 
the E-mail options button in the Preferences tab. In the box that comes up 
there's a drop down entry for "When replying to a message." The traditional 
choice is to prefix each line of the original with some distinctive 
character, usually >.

Some of us cranky old farts really appreciate it if quoted originals are 
edited down to as little as needed to provide context for the response.
