Re: [ATM] RE: difference 1/8 1/16 1/20 wave?

If you had to be perfect the first time and everytime, nothing would get
done!
It is the nature of things that people have to learn how to do things. You
grind and polish mirrors and occasionally one won't come in very easily.
I've got one guy that has been to my group that was a professional optical
mechanic. He brought by a rejsected Cass primary and wanted to see if I
could do anything with it. Got him ti start figuring the glass (bad turnded
down edge which needed a lot of polishing to open the ROC of the whole
surface with the added problem of a 1.5" hole in the center which the plug
wasn't level with the rest of the glass). If he had to do that mirror
perfectly at work, he'd just throw it against the fireplug!
You have to keep at things until they are as good as you can do them. Some
are happy at 1/3 wave while others want more. More means learning and
plyying around with the techniques until you get the desired effect and that
can take time.
After all, Wilbur and Orville were only the last of the failures to get into
the air and fly under power! They dept at it and eventually succeeded!
