Re: [ATM] Milligan interferometry report

RAZOR BLADE.

The way Texereau used one to test the McDonald Observatory's 82" optics,
when he refigured them in the early sixties (some secondaries had been
throwing the focal plane wave front out by one and one quarter waves, for
decades). See my post just previous to this one, too. Using a razor blade
suspended on two wires, he brought the entire set of optics back to
diffraction limited. You would expect this from Tex; what might surprise you
is that he used an injector razor blade and an old Leica camera. He is, of
course, an artist and a genius. I have used his razor blade null test; it is
easy to do and will show a microbe on the mirror. No Ronchi "for the Tex".
