Re: [ATM] ATM Software?
List, after reading George's email in response to my questionaire, I was
surprised at the rather harsh response. After sleeping on it and
rereading both his and my postings, I feel that my post was
misunderstood in its intent and purpose, for which it is my fault for
not clearly explaining myself, and asking an inappropriate question. For
that I am sorry. I was not trying to create a product to sell
commerically and use your expertise to create it, Though I can see how
it would easily seem that way.
What I was trying to do though was, since I am creating this software
anyway why not make it usefull for more than just me. Personally I don't
like to do a lot of work and it not be very usefull. So I was asking
what would make it usefull for the community and what they would need
from the software in order for it to be used. Also as far as the
simplicity of the software was concerned there was a great
misunderstanding. When I said formula I was refering to things like
Ronchi testing, Six testing, Foucault, secondary sizing, etc. I was
thinking that if enough interest were there to publish instructions and
diagrams on how to build these test apparatus that would interface with
the software so that a user would simply click measure and the data
would be taken for them. This is not what I would call simple though it
may not be the most complex thing to do.
Lastly, I for one hate the high cost and overly priced software today
myself. I was thinking of something more than reasonable in the $0-$20
range, with a strong leaning towards a donation setup. In any case it
was an inappropriate question to even ask. For this I am deeply sorry
and hope all of you can accept my apology.
So if any of you are still interested. I have decided to release the
software under either the GPL or LGPL license. If you have a prefrence
let me know. But this still leaves the questions of what would you the
community like from this software?
Sincerest Apologies,
Nick
