If the scope is out of warrantie then I would look at getting the
threads repaired with a helicoil kit. A kit would cost less than the
shipping charges.
For telescope control with a Computer program I would look at the
latest version of ECU, $60us The program is designed by an Amateur
Astronomer for Amateur Astronomers. There is a demo available as well
