There is only one way to properly pack the mirror.
Its surface must not be touched by anything (solid).
It is by no means difficult to build such container
or box.
Even if the wrapping material is "safe" chemically,
it can mechanically damage the surface by rubbing
dust and effectively sanding the delicate surface.
