Peter John Smith has web pages on making eyepieces
from scratch.
However, there is an easier method, which I've used,
for making Plossl or Symmetric eyepieces: you take 2
small achromat doublets, which you can obtain VERY
cheaply from Surplus Shed, and you affix them together
so that the convex elements are ALMOST touching, and
there you have your eyepiece.
