Hello to the ATM list

I have been wanting to make my own eyepieces so I asked Edmund Scientific about what kind of lenses they have.  The lady there said that I should use plano concave lenses.  Here is a site of this place:

Then they recommended a software program called OSLO from Lambda research group.  You can download a free trial of it that takes up about 7.6 MB.

The program helps to differentiate reflection, refraction, and resolution with a lens element set and so on.

P.S.

Does anyone know of how you would go about processing a small glass mirror blank (say a 6") in a 9X20 lathe?  So that the blank is turned into a 6" diameter 1" thick, f 8.  What kind of diamond tool you would have to use where to buy one what kind of cooling liquid to use and so on.  Thank you.
