[ATM] My First ATM Project Pics

As was requested earlier in the week, I have uploaded two pictures of my
first telescope project.

They were taken at the Table Mountain Star Party during the Scope Judging
portion of the event. I managed to take home the Best First Telescope -
Adult award! I got alot of great comments from all sorts of enthusiasts. I
even got an offer of $3000 for it. Of course, I let that deal go. Best of
all, it performed magnificently under the wonderful skies we were blessed
with this weekend. I can honestly say it was a vast improvement over the
original Discovery PDHQ that it was, both mechanically, and optically. Here
are the specs:

13.1" f/4.5 plate mirror, stopped down to 12.5" f/5
2.6" Secondary
6 pole truss
6 point mirror cell
Moonlight Focuser
Sonotube Lower cage that I fiberglassed and sanded, and sanded, and
sanded......

The upper cage artwork was a digital print on vinyl from a collection of 23
scanned plates from the book Men, Myths, and Monsters. I Photoshopped them
together, removed lines and text, then applied it to the ABS light shield as
a single decal.

Thanks to everyone on this list that helped me out with answering tough
design questions. This list is truely an invaluable resource. Clear
skies....

Matt Simmons
