RE: [ATM] String scope quick connect

Looking at various snap shackles, all appear to be designed to be connected
and then loaded or tensioned by another method (due to the short hinge arm).
Also, none that I saw had a tension adjustment feature. I found the pelican
hook (newer designs) interesting because it has both a tension adjustment
and repeatable pre-set tension loading mechanism.

Also a very similar device would be a snap shackle . Wichard, Ronstan ,
probably Lewmar and Harken make them.

Some racing sailboats have solid rod rigging (stainless steel ) instead of
cable . The most aerodynamic types of rod rigging are flattened, similar to
a wing in cross section. The trade name is Dyform Wire . There are swaged
fittings made for Dyform Wire in all shapes and sizes , although I don't
recall if I've ever seen a pelican hook for it . This is more of a lifeline
fitting .
