[ATM] Re: Plop Flop
Dear Mark:
Thanks for the kind offer.
Yes, I'm quite convinced that 18
points will be sufficient. I'm still
struggling with the 27 point design
out of pure stubbornness just to see if I
can make the #s I generated from
Plop match anything I can draft. I took the advice of
Jame Lerch (I love
your binos!) and drew out the triangles from Plops
dimensions, cut them
out, laid them out on the radii, and either the points
of the triangles
aren't supposed to meet the radii in all cases, or I'm
still sometimes 1/4"
out. That's too much for pencil thickness error. So I'm
at the same impasse
as before, only from the opposite direction now. I just
don't accept that
Plop would give #s for something if those #s weren't
supposed to be used.
So what am I doing wrong?? (A most unlikely idea: Plop won't rotate the
cell parts graphics on my computer - causes a "floating point error" every
time. Is there any possibility that my ancient P166 isn't powerful enough
to use Plop? )
In any event, the real suprise from all this: I just
measured my mirror
and it's only 1 5/8" thick!! If I converted correctly,
that is 41.275mm.
It's Pyrex.
It IS 20" in diameter. At least I got that
right. Sigh.
But now does it's thinness mean that a 27 point cell really is more
appropriate? Oh, no...
Ever confused,
Jay
