  I will be using a 1/4 x 1/2 dowel pin in the upper mounts, shrunk fit 
into the aluminum.  The tie plate holes are a couple of thou bigger so 
they slip over the pins without binding.  No springs.   The main 
advantage is after you place the struts on the rocker box, they don't 
move around. So you can just sit the topcage in place and then line up 
the dowels and tighten the wing nuts.  Cuts setup time in half. 
  The washer, bushing and wing nut are just temp fittings until I can 
machine up a proper knob.
