Re: ATM Figuring question

I tend to make the mirror spin a lot more than that. Every stroke is with a
new direction on whatever's on top and usually a bit less of motion on the
bottom item. The oldtimers used a barrel to hold the tool and litterally
walked around the barrel with a shuffle type motion to insure that the
sphere is properly formed. I use a motion with my hands, one leading the
other (I am used to a left out and right in leading stroke), so that the
mirror turns about 10deg. or so with each stroke and thus you don't have two
strokes that run over the same direction.
Making a number of strokes with the mirror and tool not turning will tend to
make lines in the mirror.
FWIW, had a recent guy finish the mirror and the last thing he had to do was
take out some heavy strokes he did on the inner zone area and that almost
caused him to have to get rid of a hole in the middle.
