 I have been using Vaseline smeared onto the mirror face and then placing the 
Saran on top of the Vaseline. It makes for much easier adjustment of the 
Saran but still provides plenty of grab to hold the film material in place. 
Start at the center and patiently work outwards. I even tried this procedure 
on a smooth bowl and got very good conformation. If you want to generate very 
smooth contact, take a small round balloon and fill it with enough water to 
just put it in tension and press against the Saran or use a smooth, soft 
ball. Haven't tried vegtable oil, but it may make adjustment much easier.
