Might as well finish up the bottom end of the scope with the rocker box.
As to the mirror support, the important thing is to place the 3 support
points for the mirror on.  Many of us use the sprung bolt method where
there's a spring between the baseboard and the mirror support board and you
merely tighten the wingnuts on the bolts to align the mirror.  Putting a
recess into the plywood for the head of a carriage bolt works quite fine.
More advanced than that are those who use the push pull bolt method and that
wants some metal on where the push bolts (the ones that lock the mirror
board in place) push on the mirror board and often use a weaker spring so
that the mirror stays out where it belongs with the pull bolts.
You do know how to make round pieces with a table saw?  There's been other
posts in the last week describing the procedure.
