Here's an easy altitude encoder mounting.
Let the far end rest on a ledge or peg, and secure it with velcro.

An azimuth pivot needs a precise hole drilled in the center of the head of the
pivot bolt.
If you don't have a metal lathe, Astrosystems sells one:
