   i also scaled down Berrys dob design to 8". I have only used scope for 
a relatively short period since, and there may be better designs  but  so 
far it works quite well. I did a few minor modifications  but its 
basically like his plan indicates. I used a solid piece of  3/4" baltic 
birch for the  10" dia.alt. bearings. I used my bench grinder as a lathe 
to turn them, ( worked great. )  Used protective gear of course. I also 
used the birch for the rest of the box ect.
