Wanted:
Guest speakers - if you would like to be a guest
speaker at our upcoming Astrofest and lecture/demonstrate or conduct group
discussions regarding ATM activities. We are seeking individuals
capable of speaking to a diverse group regarding the various techniques
involved in all phases of Amateur Telescope Making. Subject matter
can be specific or broad based. We are also still looking for Commercial
exhibitors that would like to setup displays and or participate in the
Flea market area.
Most important of all we are looking for the ATM'ers and observers
that would normally attend the WSP, which was canceled due to damage sustained
at that facility.
Yield to the call of sunny florida, where temperatures in the 70's during the day and 50's at night will thaw your winter depression. You can bask in the sun by day and enjoy our cool nights for a great weekend of star partying. Help make this a large star party we will all remember.
Note:

to messages posted on the ATM list. Please E-mail me directly for info

ANNOUNCEMENT
ASTROFEST in Orlando, Fl.
Come one, come all to the annual Astrofest sponsored by the Central Florida Astronomical Society. On March 19th, 20th, 21st astronomers from all over will converge on Lewis field to attend the annual ASTROFEST star party. Last year we had over 200 astronomers in attendance on Saturday night, for a night of exceptional star gazing.
The Lewis field is situated north of Orlando and is a site used by C.F.A.S.
for many years. We offer parking for RV's on a first come basis in
a dedicated area. The central field will be used for tent camping
and general observing. Astronomers not staying overnight at the field
will be situated close to the road, so their departure will not interfere
with others.
Lewis field also has a pavilion, limited electrical, and a public rest
room.
Agenda:
Friday night - Early birds who want to get started on a weekend of
fun. Setup and observing and visiting with other astronomers - no
speakers that night. Bring your own food.
Saturday - barbecue lunch, door prizes, and guest speakers. Flea market
area. Setup for night time operations.
Barbecue lunches are $8.00 USD payable by March 18th 1999. To
R.S.V.P. your lunch, submit payment to C.F.A.S., P.O. Box 1346, Goldenrod,
Fl. 32733. You may also send an E-mail to Bob Pickman at rpickman@juno.com
(remember - no check - no lunch)
Sunday - Flea market? Possibly guest speakers etc., visiting with your new friends, and departure.
As more people inquire and R.S.V.P. the agenda may change as more activities will be planned. There is also a possibility of a field trip to the UCF Robinson Observatory, so visiting astronomers may see and/or get to use the 26" Tinsley Cassegrain housed there.
