ATM Tool Ideas? Almost ready to go.
Hello all,
I'm about ready to start on my first mirror. I have a 10" blank, opted for
the Willman-Bell 10" abrasive/pitch kit, Texereau and ATM Volume 1 to guide
me. What I've noticed is that both texts have quite different ways of
approaching the mirror. One thing they both talk about is a glass tool. I
have had suggestions of glass, plywood and tile, dental plaster and tile,
cement and W-B hexatile, and even weights to hog this thing out. I'm
probably opening up a can of worms by asking here but I'm tending toward a
plaster/cement and tile tool. My concern is about the tiles themselves. A
friend suggested that standard (non-optical grade tile unlike in the
Willman-Bell hexatool) can have hard particles (possibly quartz) that could
cause a major headache if they are worn to the surface in fine grinding.
I'd like to start hogging out this weekend and I need some suggestions.
Thanks,
Adam R.
