Hi:
One other book is "CCD Astronomy" by Christian Buil, its advailable from
Willmann-Bell, Inc. Also the Cookbook is good reference material.
If CCD astronomy is the ultimate goal the cookbook is not a bad way to
go
as alot of the problems have been worked out and there is alot of room
to
experiment, the major part of building something like this is time. also
it's cost is fairly reasonable and you usually end up with two anyway,
one for imaging and one for guiding, so building the cookbook is a
good first step, I am currently building a cookbook in my spare time
and also designing another camera at the same time.
Willmann-Bell website is:

To doubt everything or to believe everything
are two equally convenient solutions; both
dispense with the necessity of reflection.
