Well, because I remember doing a sandwitch of plexiglass and carbon 
fiber and
discovered that I had made a wonderful bimorph !

A small change of temperature (5C) was expanding the plexiglass while 
the carbon
fiber was keeping everything in place and the whole thing flexed by 0.5 
inches !!!!!

Carbon fiber with high expension material is a baaaad idea !
