that depends on what you mean by "watch"...
on a good, high flyover for my area, we get about 10 minutes horizon to
horizon... it is moving much too fast for any real tracking with binocs... we
do, however, see it with our naked-eyes with no problems... we have also, before
it came down, seen the shuttle and MIR before joining and after separation, the
shuttle and ISS before joining and after separation, and on two occasions, we
saw both MIR and ISS at about 75 degrees viewing angle looking to the north...
as i recall, on those passes, ISS was headed NE over New York and MIR was headed
SE from Canada to Florida...
we've tried using binocs a few times but had much better viewing without them...
