Re: [ATM] conic constant
Jim Burrows wrote me, "If you can ask ATMOS what k is for a sphere, then for a parabola, and the respective answers are 0 and -1, then they're the same." I checked and that appears to be the case, so I conclude that b (Texereau) = k (ATMOS). Thanks.

Subject: conic constant
Hi, everybody. I'm working (very slowly) on a 12.5 inch f/3 Gregorian. Is the conic constant "k" in ATMOS the same as the coefficient of deformation "b" in Texereau (2nd edn. p. 77)? I enjoy the posts on various subjects & have learned some valuable lessons. This is my third scope -- I've done two 6 inch Newtonians.
John
