3M makes an anti-tarnish film/paper for jewellery protection; it's basically
a chemical impregnated fibre product that adsorbs/reacts with sulphur
dioxide present in the atmosphere. If you live in a hi diesel traffic area
you will have more SO2 in the air than if you live far from busy roads etc.

Googling 3M and anti-tarnish should find you the exact product name etc.

I believe there's an industrial product of similar nature -
a protectively-treated paper that's used to wrap silver-plated
stuff to keep the plating from darkening. (I don't know any
brand names, alas.)
