There really is no minimum bevel, except of course, none. During
hogging or coarse grinding, you might start out at 1/8", just because it
wears down quickly. As long as you keep an eye on it and make sure it
doesn't disappear, you're fine. As you get down toward polishing, you can
let it get down to almost invisible, as long as there is some bevel. My
12.4" ended up with one so narrow, it's hard to see without a magnifier and
I actually used a very fine diamond stone to "polish" it on a turntable.

Dumb question. Most of the things that I have read suggest a 1/8"
bevel. Is this 1/8" the reduction in radius or the hypotenuse? The object
of abuse is a 10" quartz blank.
