[ATM] Figuring help for Lutfu
Now would be a good time for some others to offer Lutfu some guidance on
figuring his mirror.
He has a little bit of a turned down edge.
I usually don't offer much help on TDE because it is not so simple for me. I
don't have a simple stroke that does it. I find it depends on just about
everything. The pitch make up and hardness, lap thickness, the channeling
depth and width, facet size, micro-facet, no micro-facet, quality of the
press, weight of the top disk and pressure applied, slurry concentration and
quantity, temperature of the workplace, duration of work sessions, and of
course the phase of the moon.
If you can tell him a simple way to get that perfect sphere and edge so he
can start parabolizing it will save him from my convoluted trial and error
techniques involving all those things I mentioned. It would likely take many
trying and failing hours to get control of all those factors.
It has been said that all that is needed is 30 minutes of short COC strokes
to fix anything. He has a slightly zoney sphere and some TDE. Rather mild
problems. Someone who uses that stroke tell him the nuances of it so he can
fix it and start parabolizing.
Advice on any other simple method would be welcome also.
I almost forgot Thomas' suggestion. 1/3D stroke with an end of the stroke at
disks centered. I think that might work rather well with the larger overhang
to work the middle down more, suppressing the tendency toward an oblate
curve. But I'm not sure that a centered 2/3D stroke COC wouldn't do exactly
the same thing. I haven't done something like this stroke and don't know
whether it will help the edge or not.
How about that Thomas? Will that stroke fix a turned edge, or does it just
make a sphere?
Thanks
Jerry
