Re: [ATM] Microwaves and craziness
I have now acquired a microwave for this project. I came across
a slightly more expensive older 1200 Watt model. I noted that
most of the discount cheapies are only 700-900 Watt. The
current unit weighs a lot, but my back survived the ordeal and
it is now home. Initial tests show that it works reliably to
boil a few liters of water over an extended time without
arcing, smoke, short circuit, etc.
With 150 SEK spent to fund this project, and equipment
acquisition and validation behind me, I have started looking
into suitable materials for the actual melting chamber to be
located inside the microwave oven. For the moment, SiC is
on my mind, but I am not sure exactly how I will implement
it or what further modifications to make.
Feel free to make suggestions, but let us all be clear that
this is not a mission to present yet another microwave explosion
on Youtube. The mission is to melt small amounts of glass (and
maybe other things) WITHOUT damaging the microwave.
