I agree with Bill that flexing a modest mirror - (6"
f6 to f8) is a very effective way to get an excellent
telescope without too much trouble.  It is easy to
finish the mirror and easy to flex it.  Not having to
do any measurements when testing is a useful
introduction.

Bill mentions that it is a good way to get into the
hobby.  I agree.  After flexing my first few mirrors 
I am about to do my first "normal" parabolized mirror.

Flexing the first ones gave me a good idea about the
ultimate aim or the whole thing - an excellent image -
and how easy it is to almost get there.  It let me get
comfortable with the whole process and have the joy of
a good image at the end of it all.

I know everyone has their own preferences, but flexing
fit mine.
