The unfortunate thing about drying out the tool is that you have
to get it wet again in order to keep it from soaking up all the
water that you put on it for the grinding process. This becomes
a lot more important the finer the grit is.
FWIW, I usually start grinding within an hour after starting to
mix dental stoneand consider a half hour to be enough time for
the stuff to get hard enough to start grinding gently.
Things tend to go fast around me as my brother in law found out
many years ago.
