[ATM] Betr.: Wire Spiders
Hello Chris,
For my 12,5inch, i use six electric guitarstrings: (B-string, diam 011).

The secondary is 63 mm.
As you can see , the angle of the strings is quite shallow .
Therefore the string tension must be quite high.
I use the wirespider for three years now. It works very well, no vibrantions, no deflection.
Only once a string broke, but that was not spontaneously, but was caused by uncareful handling .
Your secondary will be safely stored inside a tube, so there's no risk whatsoever.

I am putting together a 10" f/7.2 Newtonian from my own mirror and a 1/25
wave fused quartz diagonal. I am planning to use a PLOP type mirror support
cell.
I would like to try to use wire spiders to hold the secondary. Any advice on
type and thickness of wire, angles of geometry and tensioning devices? I'm
using a 12" aluminum main tube from Hastings Irrigation.
