This is the correct reasoning in my mind. The poster is clearly
wanting to get on to finer grits. The 320 is relatively fine, and
if Francis' daughter does not get a good fit rather quickly, she
can always drop back to larger grit. Having worked Newport glass,
the initial surface roughness (pits, etc) will require use of
around 320, but the mismatch between the two surfaces might make a
larger grit necessary. Actually, just putting the two surfaces
together should give a pretty good clue.
