Question 1 - Should I add 1/2 lb each of 320 and 500 grit SiC to the order?

I would. I'd also add some 5 mocron to the mix at the end (I personally 
finish up fine grinding with 3 micron and I'm looking for a supplier of 1 
micron. I'd rather fine grind for 45 minutes than polish ofr three hours, 
but that's just me.)

You're doing it the old fashioned way, you're earning it!
