That's kinda funny.  This seems to be a second generation copy of a 
first generation copy - which I made at the NY Public Library a couple 
of years ago!  And the photo of his first telescope can be found on my 
website.  It is from volume 70, p316 of "English Mechanic".  The full

Anyway, I *also* have a high quality scan of the same edition of the 
book.  Two points :
  - I believe that the 1920 (1st edition/printing) version of the book 
was the same with the exception of
     the appendices one sees in the 1932 version.
  - There is an errata tipped in between pages 30 and 31.  This did not 
exist in all 1932 printings, I believe.

If pages from the scan would be useful to anyone, let me know.
