Hello Larry,

It is possible to lower the eyepiece height with a tilted secondary:
which is explained here:

You could also lift the rotationpoint of the OTA by placing weights on
the upperring (which is not preferable)
or use a variation of the simple construction like

(I mean the 2nd, 3rd and 4th picture::the  amazing 20 inch traveldobson
of 25lbs totalweight!!)

Hi All,

I must say that I am astonished with all the varieties of mounts and
approaches to this problem.  I also am amazed at the response from the
group.  Hooking up with old friends like Ken and getting acquainted
with
many others here sure makes a guy feel welcome.  

 

I did just unpack the primary - it sure is a hunk of glass.  (yes, I
confess, I did "slum it" and buy the primary for my first mirror but I
promise to redeem myself in the future and grind one) I plan to build
the
mirror cell Thursday night if the finish is dry.  

 

I hope to find someone at our local group who can show me how to set
this up
when I finish the OTA this week (I hope).  The OTA may be leaning
against a
tree but I hope to have first light Saturday night.

 

Then it's on to figuring out which way to go with the mount.
