Re: [ATM] Support for slumped mirror

I had an old honest-to-god 6 inch Corning Pyrex that was giving me fits with a badly turned edge. It was one fo the ones with a raised ridge around the outside of the back. Suspecting that might be part of the reason for the edge problem, I took 45 minutes and ground the back flat on a concrete floor with water and 60 grit silicon carbide.
Guess what - the very next time I got to work on it, the edge was *perfect*. Cause and effect? One is never sure, but it certainly appears possible.

That is what I was afraid of happening the way I had started it before. But if I grind and polish with MOT, how
can I keep from having too much pressure and causing heat from my hands. Wouldn't that cause astig. also?
