Doug,

I had a residual film with my 6" mirror when using
optical rouge and Gugolz.  I quickly took the mirror
and washed it off with a water stream a paper towel
and gentle wiping, and that solved the problem. 
Seemed that if I let it dry, I couldn't get it off
with the same procedure.
