Re: [ATM] 16" mirror in 1" thick glass for Newbie
Hello,
i've just spoken to the glass suppliers (for the 16in glass (1in thick))
I asked if it was float glass, and they said it was.
So I asked if I should flat grind the back and they said no. The list
advised me
to grind flat the back. Any thoughts? Also say I do, what grit size/type
should I use??
Thanks

Subject: [ATM] 16" mirror in 1" thick glass for Newbie
Hello all.
I am contemplating grinding my first mirror with the only CHEAP glass I
can get my hands on: 1in thick plate glass.
It is not worth my time to 'do' anything less than (or including) a 12in
mirror.
I can get a cheap 16in blank for £100.
Using tile tool method, if I am prepared to fail, and i've read a ton of
stuff on
large thin mirror grinding, I was wondering if there was a good reason not
to try it?
Any thoughts much apprecited.
