Aloha fellow ATMers,

A splendid flatness wall chart was available from the Van Keuren 
Company, from which my understanding of using Newton's fringes for 
measurement blossomed in the late 1950s.

On their site: http://www.vankeuren.com/howtomflat2.htm , good 
information is available. It is written for non-optical persons, and 
is clearly presented.  I trained all my optical technicians using the 
VK publications.

I'll bet many will find it both useful and clairifying,
