I too am using a 12.5 f6 Newtonian with a closed tube.  My fan is a two
speed one mounted on a rubber diaphragm that pulls down the tube.  I run it
on high speed for quicker initial cooling which may cause some vibration.  I
see no bad effects running it on slow speed for viewing.  I have been very
satisfied with this arrangement.
