Thanks for your replies. I've tried F4 and other glasses in
alternate positions, but I can only make it worse overall. As it
happens, I've gone back and reoptimised the conic constants of
the mirrors which I hadn't played with for a while, and I've
made a big overall improvement. It's now diffration limited over
the whole field from 310nm to 1200nm. Worst case RMS spot size
is 0.861um with an Airy disk of 11.4um. 0.861um represents 0.05
arc seconds. I know this won't be a visible improvement, but it
must help a lot with tollerancing and has helped the spectrum
over which it remains diffraction limited.
I'm just amazed at the difference the addition of a simple two
BK7 lens corrector has made, in theory at least...
