RE: [ATM] Foucault and diffraction
Vlad,
As food for thought, I put a few simulated images in
http://www.atmlist.net/contrib/steve_koehler-at-securecomputing-dot-com/foucault
/
These are for an 8" f/6 with a 6-zone Couder mask from 1" to the edge.
mask.png shows what the mask looks like. slice_maskless.png shows a
longitudinal slice pattern through best focus with no mask.
slice_horizontal.png and slice_vertical.png show what the longitudinal slice
pattern looks like with the mask in place. Sorry, the annotations are like in
Suiter. It would not be difficult for me to put on horizontal and vertical
scales in mm.
My tools are set up to work with this stuff pretty easily. If you want to
suggest some things to try, please do. I can also do things like simulate the
appearance of the shadows with the mask in place, and compare the brightness of
a pair of openings for various knife positions. For example,
I could compare best null position with a 6-zone mask and with a mask that has
only one pair of openings. I'm also able to compare a Couder mask with other
masks, e.g., a pin stick.
If you prefer, we can communicate off-line until we have some meaningful
results.
