Re: [ATM] simple Galilean Scope

You can buy up to an 80mm Objective lens through Surplus outlets like
surplusshed.com They also can sell you the star diagonal and a rack and
pinion focuser (unless you want to make your own. )

An 80 mm 900fl f11.25 Objective doublet will make a decent planetary scope.

An 80 mm 400 fl f5 will make a decent rich field travel scope.

You can build the tube from pvc sewer pipe, and use a cylindrical piece of
wood to hold the focuser... You'll need access to a lathe to turn the wood
to the exact size .... it's also a good way to bore the 1 1/4 inch hole.

You can epoxy a piece of angle iron to the tube, allowing you fasten any
necessary fittings to attach the scope to the mount.

An easy mount for this type of project is to use standard cast iron plumbing
pipe and pipe fittings. You can cut one of the legs down to match your
latitude and build a german equitorial for about $10.
